Death Of Information Marketing?

As marketers, in 2006 and 2007 we saw several "Death of" reports;

First out was Scott Boulch in November 2006 with "The Death Of Adsense."

Scott wrote that within a few days, he had built a list of over 38,000 subscribers.

I don't  know how many subscriptions to his software "thelistvirus" he was able to

get - probably a lot of them.  It was a smart tactic that worked  like money in the bank,

Just a short week or so after, we heard from Mike Filsaime with his

"The Death of Internet Marketing".  He gave away his list building software

and built a list of over 50,000 people. He wrote that in just over 24 hours,

they had over 34,346 people create an account to get the report.

(and he thanked Keith Baxter and Scott Boulch in the email he sent

out to his list for their marketing campaign for Their Death of AdSense

report, inspired him on how to market his own report.  The marketing

method was to pay for the referrals - so as a marketer using this traffic tactic

- it required money to make the money).

Next in line were a series of separate articles and pre-sales pages:

"The Death of Email Marketing", "The Death of Adwords for Affiliates",

"The Death of the Search Engine Spammer", and many spin offs of that theme.

Rich Schrefren also came out with a very popular series of reports last year

along the same lines.

Then Simon Leung came out with his "The Death Of Google Adwords" report as a

pre-launch to his adwords products.  I never heard how the campaign went.

Just the other day or so ago, I received another "Death of" report.

The first thought in my mind was "Oh No!  Not another 'Death of' report!".

I had to find out if it was the same kind of information in the report.

The title is "The Death of Information Marketing As We Know It"

Dan Lok writes that he spent close to three months working on his

"Death of" report, which is slightly over 40 pages.

http://www.deathofinformationmarketing.com

In it he claims to reveal exactly what's going on in the

high-powered world of info marketing.

He writes that the manuscript is the result of behind-closed-doors

conversations with a mastermind group he is a part of.

(It's a group where you have to be making at least 7

figures a year to belong to.)

He says there will be no pitches. No affiliate links. No product

launches. There should be some product or service trailing behind;

this is the way it works in the world of marketing.

Anyway, I read the report and I agree that there is a lot of

actionable information in it that one could put into

immediate use for your business, so give it a read if you

haven't already downloaded the report.

Strategy Calls! New Group On FaceBook

Strategy Calls! - The Strategic Alliance of Online Businesses - is a new group on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=54338290656&ref=mf

formed for the purpose of being a forum of opportunity for online businesses to network with each other, and to offer tele-seminars, courses and conferences that may be of interest to the online business owner.

In online marketing, this is known as the JV or joint venture.

As was recently pointed out in the astute online marketer, Rich Schefren's recent article on the subject,
http://www.strategicprofits.com/blog/1-plus-1-equals-3/, many marketers have treated the JV as an email campaign, but a joint venture relationship, or a strategic alliance, is what you make it to be.

Traditionally, the ability of a firm to price higher than competitors is called differentiation. A product or a service which offers something unique,or is or greater value than the competition, could then merit a sustainable higher price.

But a firm may also choose to offer a differentiated product or service at a similar price to competitors in order to increase market share and volume.

It is, of course, of no value in achieving competitive advantage unless it is of value to the user, so that the user has preference for those products or services over those of competitors. Focused differentiation through strategic alliances lead to a perceived added value to a particular product or segment, which may also warrant a price premium.

The aim with strategic alliances is to achieve higher market share, and therefore higher volume, than competitors by offering better products or services at the same price; or enhanced margins by pricing slightly higher.

It is much more difficult for a competitor to imitate a basis of differentiation linked to a mix of activities or features rather than just a product or a service, if the mix is a good one, then this is highly likely to benefit many of the businesses online.

Strategy Calls! - The Strategic Alliance of Online Businesses - encourages businesses of all kinds to join this group to

*network
*find possible partners to form strategic alliances or enhanced joint ventures with
*receive information on the subject
*listen to experts being interview from the comfort of your home or office
*receive information on upcoming networking conferences and seminars.

The Strategy Calls!  website, to be located at http://StrategyCalling.com,  is under construction and a schedule of calls is forthcoming and will be available very soon.

New Advertising Program and Free Interview: John Reese and ShoeMoney.com

I used to like to receive a lot of marketing offers by email.  It gave me a chance to see how it works - marketing by email - how to write sales letters, emails, how to follow-up, etc, but lately, I have been removing my name and main email account from a lot of "lists".  I was receiving the same offers, over and over again.  The same rehashed information.  And some of the senders, the "gurus" were sending me offers at least twice a day.  Although these are great marketing tools, the popularity of teleseminars, webinars and viral videos, ebooks and reports of late has precipitated my name getting on lists threefold, fourfold and even eightfold because I would be required to fill in my name an email for every single one of them, even though I was already on  their lists. Of course, this is probably how their  income have exploded - by marketing through this media but using email marketing to make contact with people who are ready to buy.

I have also noticed lately that I am receiving offers from senders whom I have never opted in with.  One day, when one of the guys was marketing someone, a whole bunch of marketers lined up to send out offers for this person's products - a complete newbie on the scene. I decided then and there to remove myself from all but a few lists.  I must have been on every single list that this person's product was peddled on.

But I continue to receive mail from certain people - from marketers who are not pimping their lists and who are not trying to shove every new (or re-invented old)  product and/or opportunity down my throat.

One of them is John Reese. Here is a free interview conducted by John Reese where you don't have to give your email address or be bombarded with several emails just to listen to the darn interview.

It's about a new advertising program and offers the opportunity to make upwards of $150 and even more from a single click.  This sounds fantastic so I signed up at once and will give it a try.

Aparently, the guy to created the system has found a way to use some powerful technology to optimize the ads and the ebay 'network' offers higher payouts than you could ever get on your own.  It even "geotargets" ads based on a visitor's location so you can earn massive payouts from people going to all the eBay country-specific sites.

eBay is already paying over $20.00 per new user that gets referred to their site, and while this program can
easily make you those referral commissions, it goes wayyyyy beyond that.

You get a % of the eBay fees any new referred user spends (in a certain period of time) AND this new service knows when to send visitors, for example,
to like eBay Germany (for German users) where the referral payouts are even higher than eBay USA users.

John Reese recently interviewed the creator of this new program for nearly TWO HOURS where they talked about all kinds of tips and tricks for making more money from any web site — tons of stuff that had nothing to do with this new program.

He says that this interview has more value than most paid ebooks!

Here's the interview on Income.com:  http://www.income.com/newinterview.html

SafeList Test: MadVlad and Instant Buzz

About a week ago, I performed a small safelist test.

I sent out to the "Mad Vlad safelist".

I was allowed to send out to  7,000 members and it gave zero results. Zero clicks.

I think you're just lucky if someone opens your email sent out through a safelist.

Since it was free I just tried it to see - it took only a moment and I didn't put a lot of work into it.

So I think it's both the medium AND the offer.

The offer may not have been presented correctly. But it's the headline that's really important here.

So if something is going to be sent out through the List Bandit or Your Lucky List,

the subject line must first get people to open it, otherwise the work is for naught.

In my opinion, you only have the first five seconds someone sees your headline to get them to open it.

And if people are anything like me, they will give an email address that is specifically for safelists.

They don't even look at the emails coming in from them and just delete everything periodically,

or on automatic deletion on a daily basis.  This is possible on a server-based email.

So before you spend your money on safelists, think twice about the kind of offer you have.

I believe the offer must be a "how to make money" kind of offer,

but that is only in my opinion.

I have heard reports from other people that when they do have an offer that gets opened,

the traffic is only sporatic and there are no buyers.

My experience from Instant Buzz is that I get lots of clicks but few clickthroughs -

just a trickling of traffic - and no buyers.  I had a lot more "points" there but still the results were very bad.

This was during my first launch of e-bizsecretsexposed.com last year.

Just wanted to share this with you.

I'll be sure to share with you some results on Craig's List and MySpace in a week or two.

Look for my Christmas Message on http://angelawickenberg.com a little later today.

Merry Christmas,

Angela Wickenberg
